Classic vs Supreme: what to expect

The Supreme is an amped-up version of the classic ErgoTune chair. The Classic already has lots of fine-tuning possibilities. But if you want more control over how you sit, the Supreme chair is worth checking out. The Supreme has everything that the Classic has to offer. On top of it, it has a more advanced lumbar support, 5D arms, and an adjustable headrest. The more ergo chair also has a wider range of adjustments, making it more suitable for a larger group of people.

Like the Aeron, the Supreme comes in three sizes. It’s even more adjustable than an Aeron, especially with the 5D arms. That’s why a lot of people have also been tagging this chair as the next cheap alternative to the steeply priced iconic chair. This makes the Supreme a more viable option if you need more freedom to fine-tune the chair, thus making it a more comfortable choice at the same time.Though the Classic version is quite comfortable on its own.

They both use the same type of mesh material, quite cool and cl decently soft with an acceptable level of bounce to it. But you can instantly tell that the Supreme offers better lumbar support.

ErgoTune Chair

Though the chair he salmson the same build, silhouette, and design, the backrests and the lumbar part of the Supreme are shaped more naturally. It conforms better to the small of the back and the curve of the spine, thus you feel more supported, and it feels more natural. That of the Classic can be a bit rigid and aggressive. Some may even find it a bit uncomfortable because of the firmness level.

The arms of the Supreme are also highly adjustable. The Classic has 3D arms, which most chairs of this price range offer. So you can still find a suitable position for the elbows and the arms, but the 5D arms give you more leverage.  The recline function of the Supreme also feels better than that of the Classic. It feels smoother and has more of a sublime sensation.

And lastly, the most obvious change in the design is the headrest. The Classic lacks this. And the headrest did make a viable addition to the chair, it amped up the comfort level,  especially for those who would want to lay back a bit and relax. It feels sturdy, locks in place, and does not sway. This part is also highly adjustable and has a wide range of adjustments. That’s why this can also be a comfortable and breathable chair for gamers and if you’re going to work for longer hours.

Managing your expectations

While the Supreme ErgoTune has a more naturally shaped lumbar support, it is still bordering firm. So you will be able to appreciate this type of support if you need more support than a cushy base for your lower back. Otherwise, you will still find it too aggressive even if it is a toned-down version of the Classic’s lumbar support.

Also, both chairs are quite challenging to set up. The instructions are hardly understandable.  There are also a few resources online that can verify the dimensions of the chairs. So it’s best to visit the store onsite and try the chair out for yourself rather than buying online. Some of the measurements online are not accurate, even from the brand page.

Not-so-supreme parts

If money is not an object, it’s easy just to pick out the Supreme. But it’s not everyone’s reality. So here are the least admirable features of the Supreme.  One 5D arm is bliss, but they can also be on the wobbly side.

ErgoTune Supreme chair

Though locked, it still moves and can easily get out of place. It’s quite movable and you’ll instantly notice this once you rest your elbow on it. As much as the Supreme has a wider range of adjustability and comes in three sizes, it is not an all-in-one-fits solution.

It’s not an intuitive chair so while it can fiddle through a lot of adjustments,   it doesn’t come close to how universally comfortable an intuitive chair can be. So you still have to try the chair for yourself.

How to Choose your Ergotune Chair

It’s easy to make this decision. Remember that the Classic has 8 adjustable points while the Supreme has 11. These additional liberties allow the user to fine-tune the chair better to their needs.

Thus this works better for you if you have an advanced need for back support, more movement for the arms, adjustable headrest, but with a less aggressive lumbar. This can also be quite comfy  (without breaking the bank) for working or even playing longer hours.

That comes with an extra cost. If you don’t need any of the additional liberties that we have mentioned, then the Classic would suffice. You’ll have better use for that additional 200 dollars.
